Prodeus is a game that's been on my radar for a while. I don't know whether it's the beautifully crafted retro aesthetic, the DOOM-inspired run and gun style action, or the sprinkles of nostalgia found in every little hand-crafted detail, but this game, more than any other in recent memory manages to take me right back to simpler times where I would spend hours upon hours with my eyes glued to a computer screen.
This is a game which caught my interest way back when it was first revealed in 2018 and I have been following the project on social media ever since. I've spent about four days now playing the Prodeus closed-beta, and while I knew going in that the game would not disappoint, I was not prepared for just how much the game is to play, it's clear that 'Bounding Box's first offering is something the team are extremely passionate about. while we continue to expand Obscure Gamers and reach more people, Patreon has become a popular way for you to support us in our ever reaching quest for preservation. While patreon has been an ideal platform up until this point, due to the recent changes regarding fees on our end, we are now having to pay a significant ammount of money to Patreon in order to use the service. We have found an alternative site that will allow you to continue to support us while still receiving the same great rewards.
Our question to you is this; Would you be happy to switch from Patreon to another service (Ko-Fi) in order to continue to support us, allowing more of your money to go towards our service?
As you may well be aware by now - unless you live under a rock - the year 2020 is upon us. With the new decade will come many changes, features and goodies to OG as a whole! In this post, I wanted to outline some of the things we have been working on behind the scenes, potential changes and new features coming to OG in 2020.
To the surprise of me and some of the other staff members, one of the most requested additions to the site is OG branded merchandise. I have been hard at work on designing a plethora of goodies ranging from shirts, coffee mugs, lanyards, mouse mats and more! We are currently investigating methods to integrate merchandise to certain tiers of our Patreon page, but will also be selling merchandise individually to users who want to get something as a one-off purchase. I want to make it clear that users that do decide to purchase merch from our store will not recieve any special privileges over other users to keep things fair...
Obscure Gamers is a Video Game Preservation group founded in 2017. We actively work to preserve long lost video game history & hardware for educational research and historical purposes. Our long term goal is to work with Video Game Developers in preserving this important history from being lost.
