Hey Guys,

So i have this sad looking ps2 dev kit, unfortunately despite the $200 i paid on shipping to get it to Melbourne Australia, it didnt survive the trip (dont use fedex, fragile means nothing to them).

Amazingly it still boots up just fine, while im in there i plan to image the drives. Can provide them for archiving if there isnt a copy floating around already.

Photos attached, my plan is to glue the majority back together for reference and slowly model and 3d print new parts where possible (not sure what to do about the large flat areas yet, maybe a hybrid of laser cut sheets and 3d printed edgings). I do have a second DTL-T10000 that is intact, ill use that to model the brackets and fixtures.

Cheers Guys

Btw, any Aussies here?

Ah, cool. I also received a DTL-T10000H with plastic broken already (known by the old seller).

Not surprising that the old plastic will break eventually. I planned also to 3D model and print out new parts, but never got around to it.

You can copy the disks by using HDD raw copy tool on Windows or dd on macOS, Linux, or FreeBSD. Make sure that if you attach the disks to your PC via the internal connector, that you ensure that the PC will not boot from them. (Check the start-up configuration a second time!)

To be honest if it was minor damage I probably would have just left it as is, but this is completely smashed and it's hurts to see it this way.

I plan to model the whole case, but those large flat side panels I'll probably just have to repair, repaint and reuse.

Thanks for the drive advice, I'll probably tackle that this weekend. Will let you know how I go

Oh yeah... disconnect the SIO2 ports, like HI_RICKY said.

I think you can use retail SIO2 ports and cable with DTL-T if those break, but not sure about that.

I managed to disconnect it safely, I inspected the ribbon, it seems to be ok, gonna test it more thoroughly tonight but from the surface it looks fine

The panel itself needs a little rework though, the memory card doors need repair, one of them seems to have come off the hinge, the other one is jammed, maybe some debree fell behind it, I'm not sure just yet.

Github link added to post, and ive modeled most of the front switch panel. I missing the hook on the door and the finer details around the hinge need to be confirmed once i dismantle the other dev kit i have, slowly it will come together20191005_184548.jpg

its a suprise box, shipping will double the price. Unlikely the white sticker is unreadable. But it looks like a production tool.

That has to be the worst shipping damage to an item I have ever seen in my life, very impressive.
