Are there any Joycon analog stick replacements of decent quality available?

I had the Joycon drift on my left stick after a few years and tried cleaning it a few different ways, which didn't work, as you probably expect.

So I ordered a replacement, which drifted even worse than the original, even after calibrating. So I bought another one, which appears to be DOA, because it doesn't do anything at all, and I have taken it out and reseated it several times. I did notice the ribbon cable style is different from the original, as well my first replacement (it has a darker "veneer" like substance over it and looks like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/flEAAOSwp-9dGb6a/s-l300.jpg, rather than blue and having open contacts like this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61hxwHVGQ9L._AC_SX569_.jpg).

So the question is, do I just keep ordering these from random Ebay sellers and hoping I get one that works? Does anyone have experience buying ones that are more reliable?
