There's a fairly large manual, but in Japanese...
And a sample song and bank to try out.
You did try the h800 in a win95 machine at some point, right?

That's for the PS1 software, interesting!
The PS2 Sound Artist Tool is at

From the Jam manual:
-Limitations and notes

When using the DTL-H800 for preview, it is not possible to preview bank data with a body and reverb work area size of 512 KByte or more.

-when performing a preview using the DTL-H800

If you want to preview using DTL-H800 instead of Debugging Station, please start "JAM Driver" before starting JAM.

From section 8.5, in the MIDI settings, you need to tick the Inter Application Only Use:

"MIDI Setting ..." → Set the MIDI output via OMS.

Set Inter Application Only Use (valid only for DTL-H800).

Input: Select the device name you are using.
Output: Select Debugging Station.

Is that the original for this? https://archive.org/details/SCE-SoundArtistTool-Aug1998
Or something completely different?
https://psx.arthus.net/sdk/Psy-Q/DOCS/Devrefs/Sound20.pdf

I had this doc, its very good explaind how it works. But for this you need the S810. Anything on the Programmer Tools are pretty useless.
Im not really able to write my own driver ^^.
On PC i testet the h800 before, but the driver are beta and do not really work, maybe because my H800 Ver.3 is not compatible with the beta drivers...
Thats why i switched to the MAC.

I did it! Uploaded the sample Bank to the H800 and playing with midi keyboard NICE!

The Inter Application only use checkbox did the job.
Finally the H800 make SOUND :) Now i need a MIDI USB Host to use my Roli Rise25 with the h800.

Never was thinking about the H800 getting a midi synth, but at all it makes the kit very handy.
I wonder if there some leaked banks from developers out there? Or someone like to share?

It's nice to see that my thread about unusual DTL-H700A card was re-used for DTL-H800 card information. 😇

Some of the Roland MIDI-USB adapters have drivers for Mac OS 8.6 and/or 9, check the U models, I have the UM-1 that works on 9.

Good luck checking all the PS2 games for .bnk files!
