Hi guys!

I try to play on my latest pcsx2 build emulator GT4 Chinese review version and screen begins with Chinese language and after black screen freezes...
I had converted DVD9 to DVD5 iso and nothing happens again with same problem.. i want to play this build on pcsx2 very much can explain someone how it works????

I know it but only this game need some extra things...
I did everything , i test it on my ps2 debugging slim DTL-H 70002S in dual layer dvd+r dl but doesn't work again :(
 
was released on redump.org and archive site and has serial SCCS-60002 :)

Layerbreak of this game I found it on redump.org is 1511328 numbers :)
 
seems like game is not compatible with pcsx2, tried on 0.9.6 and 1.4.0 both bsod after chinese text

Maybe works especially on dvd-r dl with layerbreak bypass :)

Hi, I'm the dumper of this release. The layer break is 1511328. (Actually, you can check layer break info on redump.org for almost all released DVD-9 games).

BUT! This game is released for SCPH-50009 console which is targeting on P.R.C market. So it can not be properly working on consoles in other regions (Even not working on test kit for other regions). The reason is currently unclear. @sp193 may still need time to research on this.

For now, if you want to play Chinese version of GT4, you can:
1. Purchase an SCPH-50009 model and use the game image on your hand(Simplified Chinese version) to create OPL-HDD data, enable Mode-6 in OPL option.
2. Find a copy of GT4 HongKong/Taiwan release(SCAJ-30007, Traditional Chinese version). Burn on DVD-9 if you have modchip or make OPL-HDD data, Mode-6 is also required to be enabled in OPL.
3. It was said there's a very old version of PCSX2 support SCPH-50009 bootrom. And some games in this region can be supported(but still not all of them can be perfectly working). So not deserve wasting too much time in this way.

The known difference between the Simplified Chinese version and the Traditional Chinese version is that the localization text is revised and fixed several improper translations. It's reported by GT4 fans, not me, I'm not good at realistic racing games and cannot feel the difference between these 2 releases.

You're welcome.
And something additional if you plan to purchase SCPH-50009:
1. There's only one working modchip on market for SCPH-50009 which is call Dragon or "大龙" in Chinese. It's was said being a feature modded MatrixInfinity chip, to adopt the Boot ROM and/or the Mechacon chip on 50009 model. It supports playing games in all regions, include DVD-9, include tray-open auth(disc auth after you open/close tray without power down your console). But it does NOT support CD media disc. So you cannot play PS1 games nor play PS2 games in CD disc format like ThunderForce VI.
2. You can turn off the modchip(steals mode) by press power button once and wait around 0.5 seconds and double press power button(three clicks in all). You can play DVD video by long press the power/reset button for 3 seconds(But cannot co-work with any FMCB/FHDB device activated).
3. The bad news is you can hardly get unmodded SCPH-50009 on market. So don't expect to get one with factory seal untouched from the market within quite short time.
4. The good news is that this modchip does not affect FMCB or FHDB working. And all games that released dedicatedly for SCPH-50009 are tested working in OPL.
5. PS2 BB for Japan or USA are not working on SCPH-50009. Maybe modded version can support, I have not test those modded version.

Long in short. It deserves to get one 50009 for playing as it's cheap and support FHDB, you don't have worry about if it's modchip pre-installed. And it's even precious if it's unmodded. But no PS1 games support is the most con side.

Dug out the old photo. Literally you can see nothing on it. Even a bit hard to identify the data side.
Only the ring code, SCED-00031. SCED may stand for Sony Computer Evaluation Disc.

Hello. I added proper support for SCPH-50009 ROM, and dedicated games that use it into PCSX2. That fixed loading of this GT4 build according to users who tested it.

To make it work properly you need to have full SCPH-50009 ROM dump, that include rom2 file.

Eventual workaround for FMCB can be optional rom2: access hook that will allow to load mentioned files from mc0: or other location. For now only way to play those games on real hardware is to get SCPH-50009, but way to fix that for other models seems to be doable.

Thanks for this info.
So if it's caused by loading non-exist font on other console boot rom, is it possible to hack game program on disc image to make it work on at least PS2 model with Traditional Chinese language supported(like SCPH-90006/70006)? (I know the font characters' code mapping is different between GB18030 and BIG5. I just really curious that do all 50009 games heavily relied on bootrom font during in-game phase. Or just use them on start-up but then using native texture font from game resource. If it's the latter case, the hack may be practical.)
