I'm looking to buy some Game Boy Color consoles. However, I want to be sure that I'm buying an original, not a re-shell. I'm looking to restore an original rather than strip it for parts and buy replacement third party shells, stickers and buttons because those are super common and I value the originality.

Does anyone have any insight into how you can tell the difference between an original shell and a third party one? I've seen some third party shells which are missing the 'Nintendo' embossing in the front, but most include it. They even have reproduction stickers with the regulatory stuff on the back.

At this point, all I can think is to find one which looks really beat up which may suggest age. Is there a better way?

One example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224616574318 - could be a nice original, or a re-shell....
