Last warning: this thread should only pertain to discussion/documenting the history of the McDonald's eCDP game and the research of its contents. Some here have wasted enough time here barking at others for whatever reason. The game is in the hands of the public now, we can move on by exploring it.

Thank you to those who have contributed and done well for the thread.

Discussing The Mcdonalds DSI
-_- Why do you mellow fellows think they went with the color 'black' for the handheld part when its completely not a mcdonalds-color? (End-part of commercials where the M turns to yellow against black doesnt count its immaterial)

Not even the center was colored 'yellow'. What development-decision do you think made them agree at the weird top-secret worker-dsi-meeting of 'nightmare-dark?' Its not even like the cartridges themselves were colored black.. Or yellow! Nothing you eat at mcdonalds is ever really 'blue' like the cartridge and the thing most consumed in terms of color out of all them is 'red' consisting of one of the fewest cartridges known or available. Freaking weird the inconsistencys of each part. Why isnt the manual colored pitch-dark over black letters? (Has anyone seen that manual yet?)

Any suggestions on how to share one of the units with the world in the short-term (Which i do) Other than saying ''I have it'' over and over again?

I hope I never need help with a valuable ROM that I got my hands on...

...I mean the troll comments completely ignore code1038's work on this one...beyond sad...

And just because someone has the money to release something that you dont...

I forgot about that video, but clicked again to see what you're talking about..pretty sad.

It's actually kind of hypocritical, they say Cody didn't dump in interest of "cash money". Does it not seem like Nicks goal to buy it to make a 'hot video' is basically exactly that?

He didnt really blame it on cody...then again, he called him his rival.

Well, buying something expensive to release it to the public...by promoting your steps with such a "hot video"...ya, feels a bit like a bragging samaritian...

Im sure Nick had (the best) intentions...apart from blaming his rival...

Anyway, this McDonalds ROM now has a bittersweet background attached to it, that noone will ever be able to fix.

From memory of watching it I don't recall Nick himself really badmouthing cody. It does seem some people have gotten a real shady impression of him from it though, which isn't cool at all.

No offense, but that's a really weird statement. I can see why many people don't release their stuff at all if that is a common way of thinking. If one spent lots of his/her own money to buy and release a yet-undumped ROM, what's the problem when promoting this with a video? It's not that you are even forced to watch it. Also, it would be quite two-faced to blame him for that video but still download the ROM he dumped. But that's what people do anyway.

I was involved into this ROM examination from the beginning and already had my hands on it.

I dont want to extend this mess, but calling cody a rival ? Cody worked hard on making this ROM playable...
...and yes, Nick covered that story in his video as well.

But no matter how carefully Nick tried to focus the view of/on cody...this forum and the youtube comments did,
what should not have hapened. Cody is the a$$ now for many of the commenting people. And thats truly bad.
Thanks to the video and thanks to the ignorant people watching it.

No offense, but NOT watching the video, would not make this situation unhappen.

I have found a secret store layout screen where you can move mcdonalds equipment around like little blocks.
You cant save that layout and I believe the developers forgot to remove it, but it is funny.
Apart from that, I also found a hidden soundtest menu, created action replay ds codes to switch to different player in game, to show answers for mcdonalds challenge, boot to the sound test menu, secret store layout and some more.
I also figured out alot of the savefile format and am able to modify the savefile at will and create valid checksums too.
I am also the one who figured out there is a mastercode (0QKDE9) that you can use as a serial code for any mac, manager and store id combo. When inputting the serial code in the game, it first checks if the serial matches the generated serial and if not, it checks if it is the mastercode.

There is one thing I don't have though, which is the eCDP Manual, does anyone have that?

Accessing the BGM Test and Store Layout menus
  • Locate offset 00012BC0 via a hex editor such as CT2 or HxD
  • Change the hex string '33 00 A0 03' to '35 00 A0 03' to access the BGM Menu on boot
  • Change the same hex string to '2B 00 A0 03' to access the Store Layout Editor on boot
Action Replay Codes
  • 0200EBC0 03A00035 - BGM Menu
  • 0200EBC0 03A0002B - Layout Editor

Many thanks to both Dasrevo and Silica for discovering this method.

Press DOWN once (press and release) and click Store Layout button in the MGR menu to launch secret soundtest menu
You can press START to exit the soundtest menu and you get into the main menu.
