First batch is shipping. Next run will be 50 units. Cost is around 80 EUR, very cool. Uses SD card, supports both CCD/IMG and CUE/ISO disc images. Only 20 pin Saturn's are supported currently.

For the moment this PCB is for the 20 pins Saturn CD drive. The 21 pins version will be comming after the release of this one.

Easy mounting, quit the CD driver, install PCB connecting 20 pins ribbon and power supply. The ground & door switch detector are not used.

Micro SD in Fat 32
Paste fernir iso at the root
saturn games in "TrueRip" format for the moment at the root or each one in a folder

Power on, the Saturn is booting normalely to the date screen or principal screen with the icone game ready to launch
Charging the Fernir OS is very quick, logo Sega and menu to selec you game

Not a fan of the Satiator, hope he made some money from the exposure but if I'm being honest (with my limited knowledge of it's full features) it's likely DOA. Will be grabbing one of these.

Is it region-free or do you still need the BIOS/patched file?

A slew of units have gone out for beta testing. It might be taking forever, but it's definitely not DOA, and will have had the most extensive compatibility of any of the Saturn ODE options.

I have dozens of Saturns (model 1 and 2, US/JP with different modifications as well (BIOS, FRAM, modchips etc) if there needs to be specific revision testing, but I won't go out of my way to request a unit, if you want to throw that out there @GOREFESTOR. Will be awaiting release though.

Eh, sent him a message on Twitter. We'll see.

This ode is only for the V1 20 pins for the moment.
After the release of this one, Ced will be work on the V2 (circle buttons and ovals with 21pin like hi-saturn v1 and v-saturn v1)

In 20 pins, I've only the japan V0,5 and Pal V1. Working on both.

Better ask directly at Ced for official informations.

model 1 Hi-Saturns and V-Saturns can be 20-pin too, by the way.

One thing that may need testing is units with the oldest 1.00 JP bios and 1.04 CDB firmware. Those have some bugs that got corrected later. They don't boot without a CD drive connected, and the Satiator doesn't work on them either.

My Hi-sat and V-sat are 21 pins. Therefore it exist two cd drive version in each.
I don't know about diferent bioses compability.

They can both use VA0, VA1, VA2 boards. V-Saturn can also have VA3.
VA0 and 1 are 20-pin.

Technically you can make a 20-pin drive work on 21-pin motherboard but you need to convert the pinout to match, and set one of the SH1 external register pins to high... due to the ribbon pinout conversion, it's not an easy mod, unless you print a ready made PCB for that. The SKC-1000C works that way.

That's the SKC-1000, not the SKC-1000C. They use different boards.

There is an revision of the saturn MB between 1000 & 1000c . I though it was just for the internal supply & rear panel boards.
As far as I know there's only the 1000 and the 1000C, no revisions inbetween. The 1000C has some of the internal hardware simplified. It's still a huge beast, though.
