according to Terry, the owner. Reserve price is at 2m. Sell everything you have now and save for it

I suppose it was only a matter of time!

Be really interesting to see the final sale price and the buyers premium on top!

Bear in mind I have played on this very machine, that alone brings the price north of $1M.

Indiana Jones would put this in a museum...but you know some Zuckerberg is gonna pick it up. Guy wants 2 mill but probably paid 50 bucks for it. Nice come up.

My understanding is that Terry always had to cover the cost of taking this unit around the world to be shown at various events, and he's now experiencing health problems surely made worse by the fact he's spent years operating at a loss. While I agree that $2m is perhaps asking too much for the majority of interested buyers, my biggest fear is that such an important piece of gaming history will end up either not selling at all or finding its way into the kind of private collector who'll keep it firmly behind closed doors. If only Sony or even Nintendo would consider making a deal to ensure this returns to their possession as something to be prominently featured at a regional office? Then again, since it's a fully working console, how great would it be if a team pooled its resources, bought this and developed new software for it?

The only difference is that it's in an auction. The unit has always been for sale.

(And the cost of travel and lodging is usually covered for conventions, though I cant speak for him. Food costs, not as common, but still.)

Guarantee if either got it, they would put it in a vault or destroy it. It's more of a red headed step child than the Virtual Boy.

I think it's time to sell off my entire gaming collection and a kidney for this. Hahaha.

Kind regards,

You're competing with museums and Nintendo/Sony. Not really surprised at the amount, not that interesting..

You're not really competing with museums, not at a million plus
I'm saying to put it in a museum mainly, not that the Smithsonian would pay a million for it but one of these companies would donate it. Surely there is enough good in the world for that to be a reality. :(

If I had 2mil to spend on gaming, there’s plenty of other equipment/ software I’d rather have - and I’m PlayStation through and through.
I mean, I could buy a warehouse and fill it with original arcade games, which I could play every day!
