If someone is still interested in OPL, here is new test build:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/tqetk2.

It has:
  • Memory Card icon update.
  • Fix MC icon not being written, if the OPL folder already exists.
  • Replace slide transition with Maximus32's fade transition.
  • Fix transition sound effect.
For now I've a problem with overwriting MC icon ("icon.sys", "opl.icn") in OPL folder on memory card in OPL folder (mc?:/OPL).
I mean if these files are in OPL folder:
before.png

OPL will overwrite them at every boot:
after.png

One of the best PS2 games, Shadow of the Colossus refuse (BSOD) to work after 50\60 Hz selector.
The last known version that this game is playable is OPL 1355\1353.

Here is source of this build (pull request):
https://github.com/ifcaro/Open-PS2-Loader/pull/208.

Any kind of support will be helpful.

Who knows maybe it can be a big step into "tagging" 0.9.4. ;)

EDIT: Latest version 1436 is here:
https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/opl-test-build-s.868/post-10267.

EDIT 2: First release candidate for OPL 1.0.0:
https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/opl-test-build-s.868/post-20547.

I cannot post here attachment, so OPL 1364 can be downloaded from here:
https://akuhak.github.io/test_build/.

It has:
  • Memory Card icon update by Tupakaveli (2D model by Berion, 3D model by Tupakaveli).
  • Replace slide transition with Maximus32's fade transition.
  • Fix transition sound effect.
Currently there are few things worth mentioned...
Do we need settings and OPL folder on MC when OPL has been loaded from other device (HDD, SMB, USB)?
When OPL has been loaded from HDD, settings should be saved on HDD, so there is no need to create almost empty folder on MC.

If there is an empty folder (OPL) or this folder do not exist, OPL has been loaded from MC this stuff should be updated\created.

Can translations be loaded from other path than MC?
Currently no...
Why not add this feature?

Shadow of the Colossus still refuse (BSOD) to work after 50\60 Hz selector.
The last known version that this game was playable is OPL 1355\1353.

OPL at github:

New test version is out:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/5r7nn6.

It should support translations from other devices than MC and it has got fix for main10 bug.
Language files can now be read from USB, HDD & SMB, .lng files need to be in LNG folder.. ttf and otf font files for these devices also now need to be in LNG folder..
Translations from MC remain the same as before.
OPL now creates a LNG folder on these devices just as it does ART, THM folders etc

Language files can be taken from here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-beta-revisions-releases-language-pack.20547/.
Pull request:
https://github.com/ifcaro/Open-PS2-Loader/pull/210.

Thanks for these. I still use my PS2 occasionally, and every game I play on it runs on OPL, which is a fantastic program. The only game that I know has problems with OPL is Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (my favourite PS2 game, so naturally it had to be one that has problems loading from hard drive :( ). I've tried a few different versions of OPL over the years,, and I've tried the PAL and NTSC versions of Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, but even though the other games I've tried (all of my PS2 games, maybe a hundred in total) all work, Deus Ex, always crashes, always with the same cause and symptom (a yellow border). I've tried all of the compatibility modes in Open PS2 Loader, but none fix the problem, it still locks up when loading a level, it happens after every five or six level loads.

I've not updated the copy of OPL that I use for months, so I'll try the latest one here, in case it cures the Deus Ex: The Conspiracy problem.

If anyone wants to see the crash, the quickest way is to start a new game, then just enter anything on the menus until you start the game proper (which is when you're in first person view, on the wooden dock), then go forward, talk to Paul (you can't avoid this, he comes to you), just rush through the conversation (just keep pressing X), then when you're finished go through the doorway into the ticket booth (which means you exit the dock), then exit the ticket booth through the other door, turn right, go forward and turn left when you have to. You'll now reach a load point, so go through that load point (the next level will load correctly), then go back through the load point you just went through, which will load the previous level again. Go through the load point again, and so on, and after five or six loads, the game will lock up with a yellow border.

Note that the game also didn't work with HDLoader - it got to the main menu, but when you tried to start a game it would mostly just loop around to the main menu again without starting the game.

BTW, you mention how a newer build of OPL introduced a problem with Shadow of the Colossus. Is this a common occurrence with OPL releases, or is it comparatively rare? I know it must be difficult to test and maintain compatibility, especially given the massive number of games for the console, and it does make me wonder if it's a good idea to store several versions of OPL on the PS2 (if that's even possible) in case later revisions knock out compatibility with some games, or is the solving of such problems, when they are brought to the attention of OPL's authors, made a priority?

This game in some regions should be called Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, in others it is just Deus Ex, right?
According to this info:
https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Deus_Ex:_The_Conspiracy,
http://redump.org/discs/quicksearch/deus/sort/system/.

What exact version did you tried (SLES_XXX.XX, SLUS_XXX.XX)?
What is your game md5sum?
You've copied\installed your game into HDD using WinHIIP, HDLGameInstaller or something else?

In compatibility lists this game should work:
Code:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MLEw7TIKvn9MCwd5Ptbqh2lkUj3lX6YQ2wPgLEx8Koo/edit#gid=0,
http://www.ps2-home.com/forum/page/opl-game-compatibility-list-D.

Other lists are here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-game-compatibility-lists.19037/.

In free time I'll also try this game (SLES_508.04).
md5sum: 6098027720c27fdf3bc3897d31a8dbee.

I've also added your report here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-game-bug-reports.19401/page-41#post-209107.
Thanks for your input.

Sometimes new version of OPL may cause problems with few games and helps also few games.
I don't know how often it may happens, because as you mention there are tons of games on this platform.

You can have as many version of OPL as you like, as long your device have space for them.
You can store them on HDD, USB, MC.
You can use wLe or any other launcher to launch version that you want.

I've tried SLES_508.04, after going back and forth (5 times) as you suggest at this place:

The only difference is that I'll have white screen:

Peppe90 also have this problem with SLUS_201.11:

If anybody\anyone wants to test first release candidate for OPL v1.0.0, here is a link (look for "Assets" at the bottom):
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc1.

If you find any issues, please report them here.

Here are known bugs\issues:

GUI:
  • Getting ISO\ul game size has been temporary turn off to reduce boot time (#345)
  • When a PS1 MC will be inserted into 1st port, OPL still will update game history
causing corrupted data to appear on it (#284)
  • OPL will freeze e.g. on HDD Games page when a power off button will be tap
instead of turning off the console:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-v0-9-3.13415/page-47#post-223965.
  • When OPL is doing something in background and I want to reboot it or shut it down it will freeze (#312)
  • OPL locks up when creating VMC if there is not enough free space on internal HDD (#260)
In game:
  • Few (at least 5) in-game reboots will crash\freeze game (#231)
  • IGS (#336)
Still problematic games:

Is the network speed for SMB will ever be improved? I would love to use the full 100mbps. No matter what I try, I don't get more than the 10mbps (1024kb/s the best I saw). Is it limited on what can be done? All my games runs perfect, except for some sound stuttering in FMV. The worst I found is Macfarlane's Evil Prophecy intro, it's driving me nuts.

Have you got a console with MIPS R3000A (SCPH-700XX or lower) or with PowerPC 405 (DECKARD) [SCPH-750XX or higher]?

I have notice that "older" consoles might have some "difficulties" with getting full LAN speed:
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/issues/338.

Additionally max speed through ETH with OPL should be ~3MB/s:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/m...s2-transfer-speed-with-opl.21975/#post-151778.
I tested with a SCPH-70011 and a SCPH-75000, same results. I have two fat, one US with Network adapter and one JP with the PMCIA network card. Will try to test them too.

Have you connected your PS2 directly to PC or through router?
If through router, try directly.

From I remember SCPH-75004 has got better results than SCPH-70004 through SMB and USB...
