Release Information
===================
This release was a community effort with help of many people from many different countries. This collection uses quite a few different sources for files ranging from January to March 2003. Counter-Strike 1.6 beta was sourced from a pair of gcache.gcf files, One from January the other from February. Half-Life was sourced from the retail disc of Day of Defeat which contained a version from March. All versions of the games run on the same engine from Jan 14, 2003. The steam install was the sourced from the Steam 2.0 "SteamInstall.exe" and using a custom Launcher created by Steam006.

This link will show a full changelog from this version (Jan 16, 2003) to the public Steam release (Sep 9, 2003) and beyond.
Great for comparing differences between CS 1.5 and 1.6 Beta and CS1.6 Beta and Retail CS1.6.
I also found a cool bonus video that Fileshack made showing off the new map de_airstrip, using this beta. ( https://www.filespace.ru/games/cs16/cs16_airstrip.avi.html )

I remember when CS 1.6 was free and the only available app on Steam. That was probably right around the time of this beta. Might've actually been this beta.
