Some retail 64DD questions

Hi. New member here! I'm planning to get a retail 64DD in the near future, and I have some quick questions. I didn't know where to post this, so a mod or admin can move this if they like.

1. Is it safe to eject a disk and re-insert it when you get an error?
2. How do you test a 64DD?
