Time to revive a thread of mine from my old days at ASSEMblergames. A total of 24 Neo Geo titles were left unreleased for unknown reasons, with five of them being already preserved but not available for everybody to enjoy, most likely due to their prototype owners looking for their exact NGH number (a.k.a. their internal production number used during their creation), which is IMHO a very stupid reason for not having them out there in the wild, though two of them have their production number confirmed. If anybody and i mean ANYBODY is capable of finding the exact NGH production number of the unreleased titles listed here from any former developer who worked with ADK/SNK's hardware then please be sure to let me know! Without further ado, here are some of the titles in question + their sources. They will be listed in separate posts unlike my original AG thread. This was inspired by John Thacker's Neo Geo master list (http://www.neo-geo.com/snk/masterlist.htm)...

The earliest known unreleased Neo Geo title and notable for being the smallest in terms of memory size (at 18 Megs). Online screenshots of the game have been showcased by Xacrow in 2005, indicating that it has been preserved but not made available online for everybody: http://unibios.free.fr/xacrow/neogeo2.html

- Fun Fun Bros by Alpha Denshi: http://www.neogeoprotos.com/games/fun_fun_bros.htm

Video by the Basement Brothers:

This what became of Sun Shine after initially proving to be unsuccessful during its first test location in 1990. Gameplay footage (as shown by the Basement Brothers) was from a VHS titled Neo Geo Collector's Tape sent to subscribers of the Neo Geo DHP mailing list. A working prototype cartridge was found and privately auctioned off on eBay in 1998. No proof that the game was safely preserved as a .ROM has surfaced to date. This is also the first Neo Geo proto to have a confirmed NGH number, as shown by Arcade-History for example: https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=fun-fun-bros&page=detail&id=4239

Intended to be the first basketball title for the Neo Geo as well as the first release by Sammy before Viewpoint, Dunk Star was showcased across various trade shows but it was never released somehow. Gameplay footage (as shown by the Basement Brothers) was from the Neo Geo Collector's Tape VHS sent to subscribers of the Neo Geo DHP mailing list. Online screenshots of the game have been showcased by their prototype owners between 2004 and 2005, indicating that it has been preserved but not made available online for everybody...

Another title by Alpha Denshi that, despite being showcased across a few trade shows alongside Sammy's Dunk Star, it was never released for some reason. Gameplay footage (as shown by the Basement Brothers) was from the Neo Geo Collector's Tape VHS sent to subscribers of the Neo Geo DHP mailing list and remains as the only known gameplay footage of the game. No proof that the game was safely preserved as a .ROM has surfaced to date. Very reminiscent of Solomon's Key from Tecmo but more action focused...

A beat 'em up by Yumekobo, a company founded by former Aicom, Sammy, Tomy, and Takara workers. The game was previewed only once through the Neo Geo Freak magazine on their October 1996 issue. It is currently unknown what occurred to the title after its preview prior to the launch of Blazing Star in the late 90s, nor proof that the game was safely preserved as a .ROM has surfaced to date...

A fighting game reminiscent of Konami's Martial Champion and Sunsoft's Astra Superstars. It was previewed multiple times on gaming magazines, only to end up not being released in the end. Online screenshots of the game have been showcased by Xacrow in 2005, indicating that it has been preserved but not made available online for everybody: http://unibios.free.fr/xacrow/neogeo2.html In 2012, a prototype was spotted in the Mandarake store at Nakano (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showt...ocks-of-the-Fates-Shinryu-Senki-NEO-GEO-PROTO-神竜戦記-new-on-youtube/page2). In 2013, two videos were posted on Nico Nico Douga, making them the only known gameplay footage of the game.

A Jack-of-all-trades game by the makers of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams. It was only intended for the Neo Geo MVS but it suffered the same unknown fate. Well known forum member Shou located a Neo Geo prototype in June 2016, which could potentially be QP (http://forums.gamengai.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=553&p=28471&hilit=Success+Neo+Geo#p28471). No proof that the game was safely preserved as a .ROM has surfaced to date...

Video by NeoGeoProtos:

This is personally the one Neo Geo prototype i would absolutely love to play someday. Last Odyssey: Pinball Fantasia was being created by Monolith Corp., the same minds behind Minasan No Okagesamadesu! and Bakatono-sama Mahjong Manyūki on Neo Geo as well as several Neo Geo-to-SNES conversions. It had the same fate of uncertainty as with other unfortunate projects. Online screenshots of the game have been showcased by their prototype owners between 2002 and 2005, indicating that it has been preserved but not made available online for everybody...

A puzzle entry in Sunsoft's Hebereke series that began on the NES. Its not exactly know why it was canned by Sunsoft, despite being previewed on Neo Geo Freak's May 1996 issue. This is also the second Neo Geo proto to have a confirmed NGH number, as shown by Arcade-History for example: https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=heberekes-pair-pair-wars&page=detail&id=4238

I am fully well aware that Ghostlop was dumped online years ago, however, the game was also planned for Neo Geo AES and Neo Geo CD as well. A pretty fun Puzzle Bobble-esque title IMO. Not much to say about this one, honestly. This is also the third Neo Geo proto to have a confirmed NGH number, as shown by Arcade-History for example: https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=dataeasts-ghostlop&page=detail&id=598

Though Bomberman: Panic Bomber, Fight Fever, Gururin and Zed Blade were first released on Neo Geo MVS, these four titles were planned to be released on Neo Geo CD as well. Its unknown why these versions never happened, despite being showcased to the public...

I know, but i would love to see them learning from Team Pixelboy, in that after releasing their homebrew ColecoVision titles for a certain time period, they release the .ROMs for free. I would play Neo XYX if that option was given someday...

A homebrew Pac-Man clone that was in development by Jeff Ferrier. The IP for the title was owned by the video poster, before Piko Interactive acquired the rights and source code for it (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showt...Neo-Geo-game&p=4397919&viewfull=1#post4397919), meaning that we'll finally see this game being released to the public at last. Also, it feels great to continue this thread after a month!
