I would say anything stereo with a boom stand, but spend a few hundred dollars at least. I use an Amscope, don't remember the model but it was about $250. I tried some <$100 solutions they are a complete joke. Having a microscope is borderline cheating, I couldn't imagine ever going back. Even if I'm doing something quickly I still check under the scope to be sure afterwards.Readymade flat flex cables in a wiring thread are cheating
I see you're working with a microscope. Been thinking about getting one myself. Any recommendations on what to look out for?
PSIO switchboard install, definitely not for beginners and I don't think this is really much of a marketable product that you have to do all this to use it for most people. 3 traces need to be cut and 4 vias need to be scraped and soldered to. Beware noobs
I had some initial issues as well, the parallel port was a bit corroded which was frustrating thinking it was an install issue. If you can't get it to boot then use 95%+ isopropyl and a brush to clean it and let it dry-mine was not obvious. My SD card also didn't want to work correctly either, but after sorting those two issues it's working great. You just simply make a folder on the root directory for each game then place the BIN/CUE files into it.
This is how I do mine, but next time unscrew the lower right corner screw, and screw the xenoGC down to permanently hold it in place. Put insulating tape under it as there's a 5v point near that area underneath, to be safe. Don't have a picture handy to explain but I never do the QSB install. People may want to remove it later as well.
