Homerun Contest was a baseball game developed by Namco and (so far) only showcased once at Japan in 1988. It is part of Namco's World Stadium (Pro Yakyū World Stadium) series. What is notable about this particular title is due to the fact that its possibly the very first HD game to be ever developed, preceding Hudson Soft's Hi-Ten Bombeman five years prior (1993). Game Machine magazine (a very well known arcade-focused magazine in Japan alongside Gamest) recently released their 1987-1988 issues online for learning/preservation/research purposes to everybody (https://onitama.tv/gamemachine/archive.html). Inside their issues 342 and 343, there are articles in regards to Homerun Contest + screenshots of the hardware used and gameplay as well...

That's interesting to know. I didn't think that any other company would have made an HD game before Hi-Ten Bomberman came along. :)
