More info regarding downloads/releases on Obscure Gamers

As you might be aware, Obscure Gamers is moving away from letting users directly post development software on the site. Simply put, this is due to legal liabilities that this creates for the site that the new owner of the site would like to avoid. This has raised questions on what exactly is allowed to be posted on the site regarding future releases. Hopefully this will provide some clarity on this issue.

There are several other outlets that cover software releases separate from Obscure Gamers. Some of these are The Hidden Palace, Forest of Illusion, The Internet Archive, and Sega Dreamcast Info. Since the content that gets released on these external resources are not under the control of Obscure Gamers, you are free to discuss new software releases from places such as the above.

We don't want to stifle any and all discussion of new releases in the community, so what is prohibited from being posted?

Direct links to any development software on file hosting websites such as Mega, Mediafire, Google Drive, and the like are not allowed to be posted. If posted, they will be removed and if needed, staff can take further action.

As stated in the OG Future update, Obscure Gamers will also be withdrawing from any group buys and software distribution going forward. This includes Tera Releases and the like.

We hope that Obscure Gamers can continue in a more discussion oriented capacity going forward. For any other site changes, refer back to the OG Future update.

Thanks.

Re: discussion of releases on other sites (The Hidden Palace, Forest of Illusion, The Internet Archive, and Sega Dreamcast Info).
Is it permitted to link to a page on those sites when discussing a release?
If yes then could a list of "permitted sites" be made, just so members know for sure what can be linked to for discussion purposes.

A revision of site rules is being made, and that can definitely be added in. Thanks for the idea.
