Hi all ,
id like to explain a problem ive encountered with a sony decr 1000a referance tool -so here goes when i turn my decr on it loads in console mode takes a min or two then message cannot find appropriate storage... so heres the things ive tried , 4 different 3.5 sata hard drives, in swapped in different orders, tried reformatting via pc in fat32 and ntfs -still no luck , so ive tried about 10 2.5 sata hard drives none worked still same message, tried holding power button till 2 beeps but no recovery menu just black screen with cant find appropriate storage lol..
i can see or feel the hard drives working/spinning so there is power getting to them, i have 2 decr systems (both same hdd issue)and i have tried swapping a few parts ie, ide to sata pcb board, and a couple of ide 40 pin cables and no joy? its really baffed me as its both decrs they worked about a year ago i havent used them in that time and now just get storage message, im by no means a technician but any ideas on these Decr 1000 from you guys would be great :)

Hi yes i had a look at devnet but via target manager but i it will not connect in console setting only debugging, and im no technician id need to know what to look for tbh , but as i say just seems to not recognise any hdd i put in , im thinking somthing else like fuse or corrution of some sort but i really dont know is the truth, but yeah when they work there great ive had 3 and still have 2 of them:)

I'm not a technition either but it might give you some clues or you can post up results here and maybe someone else might have some ideas, as long as your decr is devnet connected, you should be able to access the page directly from your browser without using target manager, the target manager route is mainly for convenience. Finding the ip might be tricky tho, you'll probably have to dhcp leases and try them 1 by 1

i wish i knew 2 years ago ...... ive formatted via tool a few times in 2 years so im afraid im certain ive lost what if anything was on it originally:cautious: but i think im going to be forced to sell it on as a non working tool as my knowlage on these is very limited i think the only person who could fixmy decr is a ex sony dev or technician... sad really as i loved my her.
